The all-koa Martin O'ahu HG-28K2 and first Martin O'ahu ukulele expand a collection inspired by Hawaii's lasting influence on acoustic music
NAZARETH, Pa., Oct. 6, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- C. F. Martin & Co.® (Martin Guitar) is expanding its Martin O'ahu family with two new instruments and a new set of premium ukulele strings, bringing fresh voices to a collection inspired by the Hawaiian music craze of the 1920s and early '30s—a pivotal era that helped shape the modern steel-string acoustic guitar.
Joining the lineup are the Martin O'ahu HG-28K2, an all-koa evolution of the HG-28; the Martin O'ahu TKE Uke Burst, the first ukulele in the family; and Martin O'ahu™ Low G Ukulele Strings, featuring premium Polygut® material and a silver-wound Low G.
Martin O'ahu HG-28K2
The Martin O'ahu HG-28K2 brings an all-koa voice to the Martin O'ahu family, expanding on the HG-28's unique sloped-shoulder design with a look and sound rooted in Hawaiian music history.
Its HG body is best described as a smaller sloped-shoulder Dreadnought with the depth of a 000, delivering bold, balanced sound without the full-size feel. A short 24.9-inch scale adds to its comfortable playing experience.
A solid koa top joins solid flamed Hawaiian koa back and sides for strong midrange projection, natural compression, and rich overtones. Finished in gloss to showcase the wood's natural figuring, the HG-28K2 offers a warm, expressive all-koa voice within the growing Martin O'ahu lineup.
Martin O'ahu TKE Uke Burst
The Martin O'ahu TKE Uke Burst introduces the first ukulele to the Martin O'ahu family, bringing an instrument central to Hawaiian music into a collection created to celebrate that legacy.
Its tenor body—the largest ukulele size Martin makes—pairs a solid spruce burst top with solid koa back and sides for added volume, projection, and clear, responsive tone. It comes strung with new Martin O'ahu Low G Ukulele Strings, whose silver-wound Low G adds depth and resonance while offering a more familiar transition for guitar players exploring ukulele.
For amplified performance, Mi-Si Simple Jack electronics feature a battery-free preamp that charges in 60 seconds for up to 16 hours of performance time. A gloss body, satin neck, antique white binding, nickel open-gear tuners, and included softshell case complete the instrument.
Martin O'ahu Low G Ukulele Strings
Launching alongside the TKE Uke Burst, Martin O'ahu Low G Ukulele Strings pair premium Polygut material with a silver-wound Low G for a fuller tenor ukulele voice.
The set offers a smooth feel, reliable tuning stability, and consistent response, with added depth and resonance that extends the instrument's tonal range. Designed for both strumming and picking, the strings deliver balanced tone, clear articulation, and warmth across every note.
Availability
The Martin O'ahu HG-28K2 ($4,199.99 USD), Martin O'ahu TKE Uke Burst ($899.99 USD), and Martin O'ahu Low G Ukulele Strings ($9.99 USD) expand the Martin O'ahu family with new ways for players to connect with the Hawaiian musical legacy that helped shape modern acoustic instruments.
All three launch on October 6, 2026, and will be available through authorized Martin dealers and at martinguitar.com.
